All praise be to God for the opportunities and rezk' that He has blessed me thus far. All results will be notified to The New Paper this Friday, 6 Nov 2009.

I dedicate this 'prize' to my loving and ever-supportive spouse and my son who have always been my source of INSPIRATION. Not forgetting all my Teachers and Photo Enthusiast Friends who in one way or another have aided me in my Photography Journey.

Special mention to my 'Sifu' Kliqueimages Amir Hamzah and Chegu Thamrin. Also to Kaveman Academy who have given me much exposure and FUN times! Thank you, one and ALL.

Surah Al-Kahf (Arabic Verses with English transliteration and translation)

The Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said, ‘Whoever recited Surah al Kahf on a Friday, Allah will kindle for him abundant light to brightly illuminate the period between the two Fridays (the Friday on which the recitation was made and the next Friday)’ [Hakim 2/367, Mishkat al-Masabih #2175,; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Targheeb, 836

Bismi Allahi alrrahmani alrraheemi

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

(1) Alhamdu lillahi allathee anzala AAala AAabdihi alkitaba walam yajAAal lahu AAiwajan

18:1 All praise is due to Allah, Who has sent down to His servant the Book, and has not placed therein any crookedness.

(2) Qayyiman liyunthira basan shadeedan min ladunhu wayubashshira almumineena allatheena yaAAmaloona alssalihati anna lahum ajran hasanan

18:2 (He has made it) straight to give warning of a severe punishment from Him, and to give good news to the believers, who do righteous deeds, that they shall have a fair reward.

(3) Makitheena feehi abadan

18:3 They shall abide therein forever.

(4) Wayunthira allatheena qaloo ittakhatha Allahu waladan

18:4 And to warn those who say, "Allah has begotten a child."

(5) Ma lahum bihi min AAilmin wala liabaihim kaburat kalimatan takhruju min afwahihim in yaqooloona illa kathiban

18:5 No knowledge have they of such a thing, nor had their fathers. Mighty is the word that comes out of their mouths. They utter nothing but a lie.

(6) FalaAAallaka bakhiAAun nafsaka AAala atharihim in lam yuminoo bihatha alhadeethi asafan

18:6 Perhaps, you would kill yourself in grief, over their footsteps, because they believe not in this narration.

(7) Inna jaAAalna ma AAala alardi zeenatan laha linabluwahum ayyuhum ahsanu AAamalan

18:7 Verily, we have made that which is on earth an adornment for it, in order that We may test which of them are best in deeds.

(8) Wainna lajaAAiloona ma AAalayha saAAeedan juruzan

18:8 And verily, We shall make all that is on it bare, dry soil.

(9) Am hasibta anna ashaba alkahfi waalrraqeemi kanoo min ayatina AAajaban

18:9 Do you think that the people of Al-Kahf and Ar-Raqim were a wonder among Our signs!

(10) Ith awa alfityatu ila alkahfi faqaloo rabbana atina min ladunka rahmatan wahayyi lana min amrina rashadan

18:10 When the young men fled for refuge to Al-Kahf. They said: "Our Lord! Bestow on us mercy from Yourself, and facilitate for us our affair in the right way!"

(11) Fadarabna AAala athanihim fee alkahfi sineena AAadadan

18:11 Therefore, We covered up their hearing in Al-Kahf for a number of years.

(12) Thumma baAAathnahum linaAAlama ayyu alhizbayni ahsa lima labithoo amadan

18:12 Then We raised them up, that We might test which of the two parties was best at calculating the time period they tarried.

(13) Nahnu naqussu AAalayka nabaahum bialhaqqi innahum fityatun amanoo birabbihim wazidnahum hudan

18:13 We narrate unto you their story with truth: Truly, they were young men who believed in their Lord (Allah), and We increased them in guidance.

(14) Warabatna AAala quloobihim ith qamoo faqaloo rabbuna rabbu alssamawati waalardi lan nadAAuwa min doonihi ilahan laqad qulna ithan shatatan

18:14 And We made their hearts firm and strong when they stood up and said: "Our Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, never shall we call upon any god other than Him; if we did, we should indeed have uttered an enormity in disbelief.

(15) Haolai qawmuna ittakhathoo min doonihi alihatan lawla yatoona AAalayhim bisultanin bayyinin faman athlamu mimmani iftara AAala Allahi kathiban

18:15 These our people have taken for worship gods other than Him. Why do they not bring for them a clear authority! And who does more wrong than he who invents a lie against Allah.

(16) Waithi iAAtazaltumoohum wama yaAAbudoona illa Allaha fawoo ila alkahfi yanshur lakum rabbukum min rahmatihi wayuhayyi lakum min amrikum mirfaqan

18:16 (The young men said to one another:) "And when you withdraw from them, and that which they worship, except Allah, then seek refuge in the cave; your Lord will open a way for you from His mercy and will make easy for you your affair."

(17) Watara alshshamsa itha talaAAat tazawaru AAan kahfihim thata alyameeni waitha gharabat taqriduhum thata alshshimali wahum fee fajwatin minhu thalika min ayati Allahi man yahdi Allahu fahuwa almuhtadi waman yudlil falan tajida lahu waliyyan murshidan

18:17 And you might have seen the sun, when it rose, declining to the right from their cave, and when it set, turning away from them to the left, while they lay in the midst of the cave. That is from the Ayat of Allah. He whom Allah guides, he is the rightly-guided; but he whom He sends astray, for him you will find no guardian to lead him.

(18) Watahsabuhum ayqathan wahum ruqoodun wanuqallibuhum thata alyameeni wathata alshshimali wakalbuhum basitun thiraAAayhi bialwaseedi lawi ittalaAAta AAalayhim lawallayta minhum firaran walamulita minhum ruAAban

18:18 And you would have thought them awake, whereas they were asleep. And We turned them on their right and on their left sides, and their dog stretching forth his two forelegs at the Wasid. Had you happened upon them, you would certainly have turned back from them in flight, and would certainly have been filled with awe of them.

(19) Wakathalika baAAathnahum liyatasaaloo baynahum qala qailun minhum kam labithtum qaloo labithna yawman aw baAAda yawmin qaloo rabbukum aAAlamu bima labithtum faibAAathoo ahadakum biwariqikum hathihi ila almadeenati falyanthur ayyuha azka taAAaman falyatikum birizqin minhu walyatalattaf wala yushAAiranna bikum ahadan

18:19 Likewise, We woke them that they might question one another.A speaker among them said: "How long have you stayed (here)!"They said: "We have stayed a day or part of a day".They said: "Your Lord knows best how long you have stayed (here). So send one of you with this silver coin of yours to the town, and let him find out which is the Azka food, and bring some of that to you. And let him be careful and let no man know of you."

(20) Innahum in yathharoo AAalaykum yarjumookum aw yuAAeedookum fee millatihim walan tuflihoo ithan abadan

18:20 "For, if they come to know of you, they will stone you or turn you back to their religion; and in that case you will never be successful".

(21) Wakathalika aAAtharna AAalayhim liyaAAlamoo anna waAAda Allahi haqqun waanna alsaAAata la rayba feeha ith yatanazaAAoona baynahum amrahum faqaloo ibnoo AAalayhim bunyanan rabbuhum aAAlamu bihim qala allatheena ghalaboo AAala amrihim lanattakhithanna AAalayhim masjidan

18:21 And thus We made their case known, that they might know that the promise of Allah is true, and that there can be no doubt about the Hour.(Remember) when they (the people) disputed among themselves about their case, they said: "Construct a building over them; their Lord knows best about them,'' (then) those who won their point said: "We verily, shall build a place of worship over them."

(22) Sayaqooloona thalathatun rabiAAuhum kalbuhum wayaqooloona khamsatun sadisuhum kalbuhum rajman bialghaybi wayaqooloona sabAAatun wathaminuhum kalbuhum qul rabbee aAAlamu biAAiddatihim ma yaAAlamuhum illa qaleelun fala tumari feehim illa miraan thahiran wala tastafti feehim minhum ahadan

18:22 They say they were three, the dog being the fourth among them; and they say they were five, the dog being the sixth, guessing at the unseen; and they say they were seven, and the dog being the eighth.Say: "My Lord knows best their number; none knows them but a few".So debate not except with the clear proof. And consult not any of them (about the people of the Cave).

(23) Wala taqoolanna lishayin innee faAAilun thalika ghadan

18:23 And never say of anything, "I shall do such and such thing tomorrow".

(24) Illa an yashaa Allahu waothkur rabbaka itha naseeta waqul AAasa an yahdiyani rabbee liaqraba min hatha rashadan

18:24 Except (with the saying), "If Allah wills!" And remember your Lord when you forget and say: "It may be that my Lord guides me to a nearer way of truth than this".

(25) Walabithoo fee kahfihim thalatha miatin sineena waizdadoo tisAAan

18:25 And they stayed in their cave three hundred years, adding nine.

(26) Quli Allahu aAAlamu bima labithoo lahu ghaybu alssamawati waalardi absir bihi waasmiAA ma lahum min doonihi min waliyyin wala yushriku fee hukmihi ahadan

18:26 Say: "Allah knows best how long they stayed. With Him is the unseen of the heavens and the earth.''How clearly He sees, and hears (everything)! They have no protector other than Him, and He makes none to share in His decision and His rule.

(27) Waotlu ma oohiya ilayka min kitabi rabbika la mubaddila likalimatihi walan tajida min doonihi multahadan

18:27 And recite what has been revealed to you (O Muhammad) of your Lord's Book. None can change His Words, and none will you find as refuge other than Him.

(28) Waisbir nafsaka maAAa allatheena yadAAoona rabbahum bialghadati waalAAashiyyi yureedoona wajhahu wala taAAdu AAaynaka AAanhum tureedu zeenata alhayati alddunya wala tutiAA man aghfalna qalbahu AAan thikrina waittabaAAa hawahu wakana amruhu furutan

18:28 And keep yourself (O Muhammad) patiently with those who call on their Lord morning and afternoon, seeking His Face; and let not your eyes overlook them, desiring the pomp and glitter of the life of the world; and obey not him whose heart We have made heedless of Our remembrance, and who follows his own lusts, and whose affair has been lost.

(29) Waquli alhaqqu min rabbikum faman shaa falyumin waman shaa falyakfur inna aAAtadna lilththalimeena naran ahata bihim suradiquha wain yastagheethoo yughathoo bimain kaalmuhli yashwee alwujooha bisa alshsharabu wasaat murtafaqan

18:29 And say: "The truth is from your Lord.'' Then whosoever wills, let him believe; and whosoever wills, let him disbelieve.Verily, We have prepared for the wrongdoers, a Fire whose walls will be surrounding them. And if they ask for drink, they will be granted water like Al-Muhl, that will scald their faces. Terrible is the drink, and an evil Murtafaq!

(30) Inna allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati inna la nudeeAAu ajra man ahsana AAamalan

18:30 Verily, as for those who believed and did righteous deeds, certainly We shall not make the reward of anyone to be lost who does his (righteous) deeds in the most perfect manner.

(31) Olaika lahum jannatu AAadnin tajree min tahtihimu alanharu yuhallawna feeha min asawira min thahabin wayalbasoona thiyaban khudran min sundusin waistabraqin muttakieena feeha AAala alaraiki niAAma alththawabu wahasunat murtafaqan

18:31 These! For them will be Jannatu `Adn; wherein rivers flow beneath them; therein they will be adorned with bracelets of gold, and they will wear green garments of Sundus and Istabraq. They will be Muttaki'in therein on Ara'ik.How good is the reward, and what an excellent Murtafaq!

(32) Waidrib lahum mathalan rajulayni jaAAalna liahadihima jannatayni min aAAnabin wahafafnahuma binakhlin wajaAAalna baynahuma zarAAan

18:32 And put forward to them the example of two men: unto one of them We had given two gardens of grapes, and We had surrounded both with date palms; and had put between them green crops (cultivated fields).

(33) Kilta aljannatayni atat okulaha walam tathlim minhu shayan wafajjarna khilalahuma naharan

18:33 Each of those two gardens brought forth its produce, and failed not in the least therein, and We caused a river to gush forth in the midst of both.

(34) Wakana lahu thamarun faqala lisahibihi wahuwa yuhawiruhu ana aktharu minka malan waaAAazzu nafaran

18:34 And he had Thamar, and he said to his companion in the course of discussion: "I am greater than you in wealth and have a mightier entourage.''

(35) Wadakhala jannatahu wahuwa thalimun linafsihi qala ma athunnu an tabeeda hathihi abadan

18:35 And he went into his garden while having been unjust to himself. He said: "I do not think that this will ever perish.''

(36) Wama athunnu alssaAAata qaimatan walain rudidtu ila rabbee laajidanna khayran minha munqalaban

18:36 "And I do not think the Hour will ever come, and if indeed I am brought back to my Lord, I surely, shall find better than this when I return to Him.''

(37) Qala lahu sahibuhu wahuwa yuhawiruhu akafarta biallathee khalaqaka min turabin thumma min nutfatin thumma sawwaka rajulan

18:37 His companion said to him during his discussion: "Do you disbelieve in Him Who created you out of dust, then out of Nutfah, then fashioned you into a man!"

(38) Lakinna huwa Allahu rabbee wala oshriku birabbee ahadan

(88) Waamma man amana waAAamila salihan falahu jazaan alhusna wasanaqoolu lahu min amrina yusran

18:88 "But as for him who believes and works righteousness, he shall have the best reward, and we shall speak unto him mild words."

(89) Thumma atbaAAa sababan

18:89 Then he followed (another) way,

(90) Hatta itha balagha matliAAa alshshamsi wajadaha tatluAAu AAala qawmin lam najAAal lahum min dooniha sitran

18:90 Until, when he came to the rising place of the sun, he found it rising on a people for whom We (Allah) had provided no shelter against the sun.

(91) Kathalika waqad ahatna bima ladayhi khubran

18:91 So (it was)! And We knew all about him (Dhul-Qarnayn).

(92) Thumma atbaAAa sababan

18:92 Then he followed (another) way,

(93) Hatta itha balagha bayna alssaddayni wajada min doonihima qawman la yakadoona yafqahoona qawlan

18:93 Until, when he reached between two mountains, he found before them a people who scarcely understood a word.

(94) Qaloo ya tha alqarnayni inna yajooja wamajooja mufsidoona fee alardi fahal najAAalu laka kharjan AAala an tajAAala baynana wabaynahum saddan

18:94 They said: "O Dhul-Qarnayn! Verily, Ya'juj and Ma'juj are doing great mischief in the land. Shall we then pay you a tribute in order that you might erect a barrier between us and them"

(95) Qala ma makkannee feehi rabbee khayrun faaAAeenoonee biquwwatin ajAAal baynakum wabaynahum radman

18:95 He said: "That in which my Lord had established me is better. So help me with strength, I will erect between you and them a barrier."

(96) Atoonee zubara alhadeedi hatta itha sawa bayna alsadafayni qala onfukhoo hatta itha jaAAalahu naran qala atoonee ofrigh AAalayhi qitran

18:96 "Give me Zubar of iron;'' then, when he had filled up the gap between the two mountain-cliffs, he said: "Blow;'' then when he had made them (red as) fire, he said: "Bring me Qitran to pour over them."

(97) Fama istaAAoo an yathharoohu wama istataAAoo lahu naqban

18:97 So they could not scale it or dig through it.

(98) Qala hatha rahmatun min rabbee faitha jaa waAAdu rabbee jaAAalahu dakkaa wakana waAAdu rabbee haqqan

18:98 He said: "This is a mercy from my Lord, but when the promise of my Lord comes, He shall Dakka' it down to the ground. And the promise of my Lord is ever true.

(99) Watarakna baAAdahum yawmaithin yamooju fee baAAdin wanufikha fee alssoori fajamaAAnahum jamAAan

18:99 And on that Day, We shall leave some of them to surge like waves on one another; and the Trumpet will be blown, and We shall collect them (the creatures) all together.

(100) WaAAaradna jahannama yawmaithin lilkafireena AAardan

18:100 And on that Day We shall present Hell to the disbelievers, plain to view.

(101) Allatheena kanat aAAyunuhum fee ghitain AAan thikree wakanoo la yastateeAAoona samAAan

18:101 (To) those whose eyes had been under a covering from My Reminder, and they could not bear to hear (it).

(102) Afahasiba allatheena kafaroo an yattakhithoo AAibadee min doonee awliyaa inna aAAtadna jahannama lilkafireena nuzulan

18:102 Do then those who disbelieved think that they can take My servants as Awliya' (protectors) besides Me! Verily, We have prepared Hell as an entertainment for the disbelievers.

(103) Qul hal nunabbiokum bialakhsareena aAAmalan

18:103 Say: "Shall We tell you the greatest losers in respect of (their) deeds!"

(104) Allatheena dalla saAAyuhum fee alhayati alddunya wahum yahsaboona annahum yuhsinoona sunAAan

18:104 "Those whose efforts have been wasted in this life while they thought that they were acquiring good by their deeds."

(105) Olaika allatheena kafaroo biayati rabbihim waliqaihi fahabitat aAAmaluhum fala nuqeemu lahum yawma alqiyamati waznan

18:105 "They are those who deny the Ayat of their Lord and the meeting with Him. So their works are in vain, and on the Day of Resurrection, We shall assign no weight for them."

(106) Thalika jazaohum jahannamu bima kafaroo waittakhathoo ayatee warusulee huzuwan

18:106 "That shall be their recompense, Hell; because they disbelieved and took My Ayat and My Messengers for jest."

(107) Inna allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati kanat lahum jannatu alfirdawsi nuzulan

18:107 "Verily, those who believe and do righteous deeds, shall have the Gardens of Al-Firdaws for their entertainment."

(108) Khalideena feeha la yabghoona AAanha hiwalan

18:108 "Wherein they shall dwell (forever). No desire will they have for removal therefrom.''

(109) Qul law kana albahru midadan likalimati rabbee lanafida albahru qabla an tanfada kalimatu rabbee walaw jina bimithlihi madadan

18:109 Say: "If the sea were ink for the Words of my Lord, surely, the sea would be exhausted before the Words of my Lord would be finished, even if We brought like it for its aid."

(110) Qul innama ana basharun mithlukum yooha ilayya annama ilahukum ilahun wahidun faman kana yarjoo liqaa rabbihi falyaAAmal AAamalan salihan wala yushrik biAAibadati rabbihi ahadan

18:110 Say: "I am only a man like you. It has been revealed to me that your God is One God. So whoever hopes for the meeting with his Lord, let him work righteousness and associate none as a partner in the worship of his Lord."

HABIB UMAR BIN HAFIDZ' S RAMADAN (1430 AH / 2009 CE) MESSAGE

[Translation: transcript]
-------------

Praise be to Alllah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah bless His chosen trustworthy servant, our liege-lord Muhammad; the one who brought to us guidance and the religion of clear truth. May Allah bless him, his pure family, his noble and blessed companions and those who follow in their footstep till the Day of recompense.

To proceed:

To our brothers (and sisters), and our beloved for the sake of Allah Most High, the people of Laa ilaaha iIlla Allah Muhammadur Rasulullah, the Muslims of Australia: Assalamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu.

O Brothers and loved ones for the sake of Allah, transcendent in His Highness, those who believe in Him and His messenger, peace and blessings be upon him his family and his companions;

we congratulate you on the coming of the forgiveness and mercy and release from the fire; the arrival of the month of Ramadan. The noble month in which Allah began to send down the Quran; He the Exalted and Esteemed said, “The month of Ramadan is the one in which the Quran was sent down as guidance to mankind, with clear signs containing clear signs and discrimination.”

The coming of this month is highly significant for you, O believers. Indeed your chosen Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him his family and his companions, would endeavour and strive in Ramadan like no other month and he would strive in the last ten days of it like he would not in the rest of the days of Ramadan.

He, peace and blessings be upon him his family and his companions, was the most generous of people and he was most generous in Ramadan. When Jibreel Alayhissalam met him in Ramadan, he was more generous than a cool breeze.

It is duty upon you to welcome the month with happiness and thankfulness to Allah most high. Indeed His caller announces in the nights of Ramadan, “O seeker of good come forward, and O seeker of evil fail and fall short.” On the first night of this month the doors to heaven are opened so that not a door of them is closed for the duration of this month, and the doors to the fire are closed so that not a door is opened for the duration of this month; and the rebellious shayateen are chained.

O believers in the first night of the month Allah looks upon His creation and whoever Allah looks upon, He will never punish.

O believers, indeed it is a month of generosity and blessings from Allah most high. He made it obligatory upon us to fast the month, and the Messenger of Allah established the Sunnah of reviving its nights in prayer, thus whosoever fasts the month and revives its nights out of faith and anticipation of reward from Allah, comes out of his sins like the day his mother gave birth to him. Whosoever fasts the month, his past sins are forgiven; whosoever stands its nights in worship his past sins are forgiven.

O believers, in welcoming this month expand your intentions, Rise to your Lord, Transcendent Most High, by following his chosen servant Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, his family and his companions. Show those who surround you a reality from the beauty of this Deen, it is the month of generosity, be generous to your neighbors both Muslim and non Muslims. Give them what you can, offer what you can. Present to them a meaning of excellence, whereby a reality of your great Deen and the noble way of Alllah will be made clear to them, thereby following in the footsteps of your Prophet who was most generous in Ramadan.

Be people of generosity by displaying noble character traits.

Be people of generosity by giving and spending according to your ability, and by being of benefit to those around you both Muslim and non Muslim. Show them the greatness of this religion and its generous nature (samaha). Show them the noble character traits it contains, and the uprightness of its path.

Meet the month with reverence and humility because in this month are divine manifestations and superabundant blessings and goodness; He increases in it the reward of a nafl recommended to the reward of a fardh and the reward of a fardh is multiplied by 70 times. Moreover some narrations have stated that the reward is multiplied to 1000 times. This is the favour of Allah that he grants to whom he wishes; seize the opportunity of the honourable month.

Take advantage of the fasting in it. Indeed Allah is training us with this fasting so that we may ascend in the meanings of adherence to the commandments, and to ascend in the meanings of our aspirations and resolutions.

The abstaining from the necessities of life during the day, namely eating, drinking and marital relations and everything else that nullifies the fast is a declaration that we are a people of determination, we are not imprisoned nor are we enslaved by our lower selves or desires.

For the sake of Allah we leave our desires and for His sake we leave all that He has made forbidden for us, therefore we observe Adab (etiquette) in our fast for Him by being careful with speech so that we do not utter any lie, backbiting nor any harm to anyone of His servants.

O believers!

It is a blessing, to arrive at this noble month when in it is a night better than a thousand months; no one is denied its blessing save the deprived one.

O believers!

It is most becoming for us to revise our relationship with the Quran in this month. That which we have already memorized we repeat and contemplate its meanings; if we don’t understand the meaning in Arabic then a translation of these meanings in a language that we know and understand.

O believers!

It is the month of benevolence, the month of patience and the reward for patience is paradise. It is the month of maintaining family relations, it is the month of looking out for ones neighbours’.

O believers!

The month of seeking forgiveness and asking Allah for Jannah, seeking refuge in Him from the fire, and renewing the pledge with the two testimonies of faith. Our Prophet said, “Perform 4 actions abundantly in Ramadan, 2 actions are pleasing unto your Lord and 2 you cannot do without. As for those that are pleasing unto your Lord; to testify that there is no God other than Allah and seek His forgiveness (istighfaar). As for the 2 actions that you cannot do without, ask Him for Jannah and seek refuge from the fire. Therefore it is most becoming of a believer to repeat in this month “Ash-hadu an laailaha illah Allah nastaghfirullah nas alukal jannah wa nauthu bika mina annar.”

O believer!

Break your fast on Halal and delay the suhoor so long as you don’t fall in doubt. Do not delay the Iftar as soon as you are sure of sunset. Uphold the taraweeh prayer every night, it is best 20 raka’as, surely the one who upholds it will have revived the nights of Ramadan in prayer and you have heard the authentic hadith, “Whosoever stands the nights of Ramadan in worship out of faith and anticipation of reward from Allah all his past sins are forgiven.”

Allah forgives in this month and its last night everyone who does not associate partners with Allah, all the Muslims; except one who breaks family ties, the disobedient to his parents, the one who consumes intoxicants and the one who holds grudges in his heart against Muslims. So cleanse yourself and your house from that which denies you this mercy.

Be truthful to your Lord and be joyous at the flowing generosity from the presence of the All Merciful, Loving, Kind, Most High.

May Allah take by my hand and yours, O believer, may He assist you and guide you to integrity in conduct and assist you with His enabling grace to properly take advantage of the nights and days of the month so that you may attain His vast blessing and generosity, Most high.

O Allah! Bless for us Ramadan. O Allah! Make us from the emancipated, released and protected by You from the fire, in Ramadan.

O Allah! Make us from amongst those who are granted the maximum portion of its goodness. Indeed it has come to us that Your prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, his family and his companions, that You emancipate in every night of the month 600,000 people from the fire, and the last night You emancipate as many You emancipated in the whole month.

O Allah! Emancipate our necks from the fire and safeguard us from the humiliation of this dunya and the punishment of the Hereafter. Bless for us the nights of Ramadan and its days and make us from those who maximise their benefit from the month and grant us felicity through the recitation of the Qur’an; upholding the fast on the basis of Taqwa on the basis of Adab, scrupulousness, and an increase in faith and fear of You, love for You and Your Messenger Muhammad sallaAllahhu alaihi wa sallam and love for his family and his companions and all of the righteous of his nation and for all the people of La ilaha illaAllah. Grant us Your love and the love of everyone who is a means to achieve Your love and love of a deed that will draw us near to Your love.

O Allah! Deliver us to Ramadan and safeguard Ramadan for us and take it back from us having been accepted.

May Allah send his blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon his family and his companions and all who follow in his path, and praise be to Allah the Lord of the worlds.
.

Ramadhan Menjelang al-Quran Dijulang

Ramadhan Menjelang al-Quran Dijulang

Kertas kerja oleh : Ustaz Muhammad Farid Ravi Abdullah

Sabtu, 15 August 2009 @ Masjid Sultan (auditorium) Singapore

Kelebihan Tilawat al-Quran DI Bulan Ramadhan

Memahami al-Qur'an, membacanya dan bahkan mendengarkannya semua mendapatkan pahala.

Buhkari Muslim).

Kita juga dianjurkan membaca al-Qur'an hingga khatam (dari awal sampai akhir). Ibnu Umar pernah bertanya kepada Rasulullah s.a.w. "Berapa kali saya harus menghatamkan al-Qur'an?" (H.R. Tirmidzi).

Rasullah juga gemar mendengarkan al-Qur'an dan sering matanya berlinang ketika mendengarkan lantunan ayat-ayat al-Qur'an. Ibnu Umar bercerita suatu hari Rasulullah memintaku membaca al-Qur'an untuk beliau "Ibnu Umar bacalah sesuatu dari al-Qur'an untukku", lalu aku baca surah al-Nisa hingga ayat (41, artinya) "Maka bagaimanakah apabila Kami datangkan seorang saksi dari tiap-tiap umat dan Kami datangkan kamu (Muhammad) sebagai saksi atas mereka atas mereka itu sebagai umatmu". Aku melihat kedua mata beliau basah meneteskan air mata. (H.R. Bukhari).

Bertadarus al-Qur'an selama bulan Ramadhan termasuk kebisaan yang dilakukan Rasulullah s.a.w. Riwayat Ibnu Abbas menjelaskan bahwa "Rasullah adalah orang yang paling dermawan, kedermawaan beliau meningkat pada bulan Ramadhan, yaitu ketika didatangi Jibril setiap malam Ramadhan, is bertadarus al-Qur'an bersama Rasulullah. (H.R. Bukhari Muslim).

Danipada Abdullah bin Mas'ud r.a. (al-Qurtubi 1/498)

Berkata Anas bin Malik: Ramai yang membaca al-Quran sedang al-Quran melaknatnya. (al-Ihya' 1/499)

Berkata Uthman bin Affan dan Huzaifah bin al-Yaman r.a. (al-Ihya' 1/522)

(Kitab al-Zuhd Ibn al-Mubarak,273).

(Jami' Usu12/366)
